February 2010

You are currently browsing the monthly archive for February 2010.

Its been an interesting start to the year, all kinds of work popping up here and there. I therefore thought it apt to share what we’ve been up to. Sean and i are full time Photographers/Retouchers, our work sees us take on all manner of projects. A recent expedition took us to photograph a fantastic up and coming pair of musicians Jennifer and Owen, i had the pleasure of a mini performance to get an idea of what kind of style they were going for and believe me these guys are ones to watch. They have a gig coming up in march actually, i will post information when i know more!

Anyway heres a sample of what we got up to:

After seeing Stephen Berkmans work on ‘The Assassination of Jesse James’ and his work with the Raconteurs i had to have a stab at the Ambrotype myself. The depth of the blacks and the character of the photographs is what intrigued me, pretty chuffed with the outcome.

A smashing day it has to be said, these guys are definitely worth keeping tabs on, am looking forward to checking them out live next month. It’s a Haiti fund raiser i believe, good tunes and a good cause. As i say, i will post details when i know more, as for me, adios!

peace out blog fans x

Ah, the brides wedding shoes. Never before has such magic, grace, style and majesty been asked of a pair of shoes. The quest for the perfect shoe is a journey embarked upon by many brides to be each year, oft a tricky decision, how does one pick the perfect shoe for the perfect day. now not being of the female disposition myself this article may need revision as my opinions may not be shared by other readers (suggestions are positively encouraged)

However i must digress, from the point of view of the wedding photographer, pretty shoes make fantastic pictures. so heres a few to mull over courtesy of the lovely people at highsocietybride.co.uk

Hark This

Looking for something a little different this summer? or to add splash of colour to your wedding?

A late summer  jaunt through the picturesque town of Stratford led one to a most brilliant playing field, where football was played and much merriment had by all, england were winning the ashes and my hands were passed with cakes of the cream variety. This apparently masculinely biased event was brought to a halt by the rest of the party…and shopping did commence. However if you sense a tone  of contempt, i ensure you this is not the case. For on our mosey across Shakespearian turf we stumbled upon a boutique, who’s contents inspired this entry, so without further ado check out these brilliant bags by Steven Harkin

The place itself is fantastic, a wedding photographers dream location, when its all dressed up it will provide a truly stunning spectacle.

Whilst on the hunt for the perfect cake maker for a family friend, i came across this little gem. Creations of the most exquisite nature i have ever seen it has to be said. I think what drew me to these most was the real sense of care and artistry that has gone into it, a cake as an artwork, can cake be art? i think we’ll leave that to a certain Mr.Graham-Dixon. However browsing the site you cannot help but admire the craft involved in not only making, but imagining these cakes in the first place. How anyone could eat them I’m not entirely sure, however one can only assume that they taste as good as they look, making scoffing them with a rather large grin on ones face, a little bit easier to fathom.
