It not only helps you focus on what your really after, but also helps your suppliers (and photographer) visualise exactly what it is that your trying to create for your special day…and also they look quite pretty.

It only dawned on me recently the undeniable parity between my endeavors on a film set, and those on a wedding day. All the usual guests, cast and crew are in attendance. Actors and actresses make way for the bride and groom to take the limelight, steal the show, and all in attendance stride with contented grins, as they know they are part of something brilliant, fantastic, unique! My Jules Winnfield moment occurred whilst on my most recent film set. A fantastic few days, great times, great people, great photos…great!

…we have the candid shots and the lovely ladies doing the make-up, coincidentally this lovely lady (often otherwise known by her alter ego; Holleigh) also extends her artistry to the wedding scene, contact me for details…
…And finally, the main shots that take precedence, reside in the fore of the mind and are a visual signifier for the whole event. uncanny!
Speaking of films, i gazed a gazely stare upon a 1993 vintage in the past week, The Three Musketeers to be precise. Valour, honour and good old heroism are a sure fire way to a ladies heart, but as a Mr. Charlie Sheen aptly demonstrates for us desperate romantics, a telling grip on the English language, is a powerful tool indeed:

Call me old fashioned, but i have always preferred real flowers to those of the artificial variety. However i saw these and it was required of one of the usual travel party to point out that they were indeed artificial. Upon closer inspection this was much more apparent, however from an arms length away, they performed there floral Houdini routine rather aptly. Now, forgive my traditionalist ideals, but i would always have the brides bouquet comprised of genuine floral articles, but for centerpieces and any additional items, i think these chaps would suffice quite nicely. Particularly due to the fact that they could be re-used in the home post wedding as a vibrant reminder of the day.

A transparent crystal of tetrahedrally bonded carbon atoms, reads 10 on the Mohs scale, takes a billion years to make and has a thermal conductivity of 900–2,320 W·m−1·K−1. Thats right brain-boxes, the much sought after, undisputed king of the jewels, the Diamond.
Its fantastic properties employed by many industries, anywhere from diamond tipped drill-bits to high performance bearings, these phenomenons of geology are loved by many.
Therefore in the search for a ring, one must be aware of all the intricacies that are involved in diamond grading and selection. in this entry, we aim to make looking for your diamond, a little bit clearer.
Some of you may be aware of the 4 C’s that are associated with diamonds. These are:
Cut
Colour
Clarity
Carat
So how do they affect the diamond? and what do they mean?
Cut – shape would probably be more transparent terminology, a factor referring to its physical appearance whether it be round, square, oblong etc. but there are also other factors involved. Cut refers to proportion, symmetry and polish. The quality of the physical action of cutting the diamond, determines its refractive qualities. A diamond must be in exact proportion to maximise its refractive index. when a diamond is cut to exacting proportions, light bounces around repeatedly inside it, giving it it’s scintillating visual qualities.
Colour - Diamonds are graded on a colour scale from D to Z, D being the most desirable and Z being least desirable. The grade of a diamond is based upon its colour, a flawless diamond or ‘white’ diamond are considered best so would be graded D.
D, E and F are the top three grades, there being negligible differences between the three. However G – J graded diamonds are considered near colourless and are still very desirable.
However the same rules do not apply to coloured diamonds, such as pinks, yellows and blues. The grade of these is determined by the strength of the hue of the diamond and in these cases the opposite is true, the more colour – the better!
Clarity - Judged by what are known as “inclusions”, these inclusions are the determining characteristics of how clear the diamond is. literally an inclusion is ‘a solid fragment, liquid globule, or pocket of gas enclosed in a mineral or rock’ when referring to diamonds the definition includes any feature which impedes the free passage of light through the stone. The classification runs from FL-flawless to L3-very easily visible inclusions.
The best diamonds for clarity will be graded: FL, IF, WS1,WS2, VS1, VS2
Carat - From the Greek kerátion, a diamonds size is measured in Carat weight, which is effectively a measure of a diamonds mass. Carat weight is commonly expressed in points, each carat is 100 points or 1/5 of a gram. put simply, the higher the carat, the greater the mass, the more expensive it is.
It is a complex combination of these four factors that determines quality and beauty, and eventually price.

The proposition of marriage must be the most traumatic yet magical moment of ones life. the tension in waiting for the answer is tantamount to agony, yet the overwhelming flood of warmth, passion, excitement…and relief! upon hearing the answer, is so intense one could explode!
Historically the tradition of the diamond ring was thought to have started in 1477, when Archduke Maximilian of Austria presented Mary of Burgundy with a diamond ring as a gift of engagement, thus beginning a tradition that has spanned centuries. It was the Greeks who created the tradition of placing the betrothal ring on the fourth finger of the left hand in belief that a certain vein in that finger, the Vena Amoris, (literally ‘vein of love’) runs directly to the heart.
In contemporary culture it is becoming increasingly customary for the male to opt for an engagement gift other than the traditional ring. The watch, whether it be of the wrist or pocket variety, is a stylish, timeless and practical gift.

A trip to the local high street is more than conclusive that the choice of womens shoes is dauntingly comprehensive, a trip to the shops with the other half can quickly descend into footwear Olympics. Us chaps are often unable to fathom the necessity for so many, yet are regularly reminded of reasons to the contrary. I find myself seeking a sport shoe, sturdy boot, a formal wear alternative and a final, positively amenable pair, willing to fulfill any duties called upon it.
The wedding shoe however, like most things for this most joyous of occasions, should be a special purchase. The shoes should answer all the questions asked of it on the day and also be of a perennial nature, allowing for a lavish pair to be justified as its longevity will far surpass the bridal shoe.
Remember shoe seekers, like the sock selection on the day, comfort is a must, most of the day will be spent in a vertical position, so break them in before the big day.
